Coimbatore: The Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi General Secretary ER Eswaran has criticised that the government has not been transparent in releasing COVID-19 patient information and that the number of cases are high in TN.

Speaking to the press at the Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi office in Singanallur he said, "Even though the number of COVID-19 cases differs from state to state, the number of cases in TN is high. However, the government has not been transparent with its announcements."
Charging that there has been a scandal, he said, "We can realise that there is a lot of irregularity in the sanitation work that has been taking place. There are 190 sanitary workers under contract in Tiruchengode of the Namakkal district, as per the register. However, when this was inspected it was revealed that only 45 people are really working. Considering this discrepancy it is clear that sanitation has not been happening properly, leading to the increase in the spread of COVID-19."
He further said, "It is said that there are 1 lakh contract workers all over the state. However, if this is accounted for as it was done in Tiruchengode, then the scandal involving sanitary workers will be revealed. Hence the Minister for Municipal Administration S.P. Velumani must interrogate this and take appropriate action on it."
"It is being said that sanitation work to the tune of Rs.5 crore is taking place in the state every day. However, it appears that work worth only Rs.1 crore is being done daily. When 4 crores' worth of work is not being done, then a big scandal has taken place and we are facing a loss. When this is calculated for the entire state the loss will be colossal. It only makes us wonder what kind of scandals could have taken place in the Municipal Administration in the last nine years. This is a mega scandal. If a scandal of this magnitude can take place in the sanitation department then it leads us to think what other scandals could have taken place in other departments."
"It is the intention of the Central government to not grant OBC reservation for medical courses and they drag the court along to add strength to this decision," he opined.
He added, "There is no chance of a by-election in TN. By making the use of the term 'Vellalar' a caste issue, some people are trying to gain political advantage. The statements issued by various political parties regarding this issue are also condemnable. Instead of referring to castes as SC, BC, MBC and FC the classifications can be given numbers. Even if SC is denoted as number 1, it is not wrong."
He said, "We have proof for the issue of Tiruchengode contract sanitary workers. Half the scandal can be brought out if biometrics are brought about for these workers. The driver of the Tiruchengode AIADMK MLA is listed as a contract worker. Similarly two female party executives with the MLA are also listed as contract workers and they are paid Rs.500 everyday."
He said that he was the first person to register his condemnation in the Kanda Sasti Kavasam issue and also said that nobody should hurt the sentiments of other religions.
