Coimbatore: Complaints have been filed against smugglers of ration shop goods by the Consumer Voice Forum.
The Consumer Voice Forum has complained about the smuggling of rice bags from two ration shops under the Singanallur Cooperative Store. They have provided photographic proofs for this smuggling activity.
There are more than 10 ration shops under the Singanallur Cooperative Store. Repeated complaints have been raised that rice and other goods are constantly being smuggled from these ration shops. Following this the Consumer Voice Forum has filed a complaint with the Commissioner of Food and Supplies and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, with photographic proofs. The complaint was filed by the Consumer Voice Forum Administrator Logu.
It has been mentioned in the complaint that, "Since the workers at the ration stores in Singanallur are employed at the same store for many years they do not provide the ration card holders with supplies. Similarly citing power cuts as a reason, they don't log entries for registered users and instead provide goods to unregistered users. Complaints have been filed previously; however, no action has been taken regarding this."
It further read, "The members of the public had sent us photographs alleging that rice sacks are being smuggled from the ration shops no. 58 and 91 on Hope College Tashkent Street, Peelamedu around 11.20 AM today."
The complaint demanded severe action against those who are smuggling sacks of goods provided by the governments to the ration stores to help the people during the pandemic.
Logu adds, "Such anti-social activities tarnish the name of the government. Hence, severe action must be taken against those who commit such crimes."
