Cargo flight between Coimbatore and Sharjah cancelled for second time

Coimbatore: Exclusive all-cargo flight service from Coimbatore to Sharjah provided has been cancelled for the second time at Coimbatore international airport.

Coimbatore: Exclusive all-cargo flight service from Coimbatore to Sharjah provided has been cancelled for the second time at Coimbatore international airport.

Due to the 'Covid-19' virus outbreak, no international flight services are operated across India except the repatriation flights which help stranded Indians come back to their homes, but cargo operations are allowed to many countries.

Coimbatore has witnessed the operations of six all-cargo flights so far during the COVID crisis. Under the circumstances, Spicejet Airlines, the company that operated all the six cargo service flights, has cancelled its operation for the second time just within two weeks.

Airport sources said,"Cargo services are provided both in passenger flights and all-cargo aircrafts. During the ongoing pandemic, Spicejet Airlines operated all-cargo flight service between Coimbatore and Sharjah six times. Totally 103 tonnes of cargos have been sent, but this service has been cancelled for the second time in the past two weeks.

Air Arabia has been operating two-way passenger flight services between Coimbatore and Sharjah, which we think could be the reason for the cancellation of the cargo flights. Air Arabia service will be operating flights until this weekend. So, we hope all-cargo flight operations to Sharjah will commence again in the next week."
