Coimbatore: In a controversial statement, Shiva Lingeswarar Swamigal Kamatchipuram Aadheenam on Thursday in Coimbatore told that one should not be afraid to even cut the tongues of people who defame Hinduism.

Addressing the press here on Thursday regarding the derogatory remarks made on Kanda Sashti Kavasam issue, the Aadheenam said "Since time immemorial, numerous songs have been sung praising Lord Muruga. 'Kavasam' is sung not only to Lord Muruga but to all the deities. But it is unfortunate to see a YouTube channel defaming the Kandha Sashti Kavasam."
He lamented that barring a few organisations, nobody is here to condemn the injustice that is meted out to Hindus.
Kamatchipuram Aadeenam said such activities should be stopped and for doing so, one should not be afraid to even cut the tongues of people who defame Hinduism and a Hindu. He added that Hindus have been tormented to that extent.
He proposed that copies of Kandha Sashti Kavasam should be distributed to every house on August 9 and everybody should get to know about the hymn.
"Lord Muruga whose 'Vel' was slandered will punish the wrongdoers. While there are many issues happening around us, it is reprehensible to have stirred up this trivial issue. There is no need to think too much about the Kanda Sashti Kavasam issue", he told.
He opined that devotees of Lord Muruga in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu consider Muthuramalinga Devar as Murugan himself and they will not tolerate anyone insulting Lord Murugan.
BJP State General Secretary GK Selvakumar was also present during the meeting.
