Coimbatore: The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Coimbatore (ICCIC) has welcomed the announcement of Southern Railway for introduction of 14 new trains and also extension of 12 trains in Tamil Nadu and Kerala for the year 2020-2021.
Coimbatore: The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Coimbatore (ICCIC) has welcomed the announcement of Southern Railway for introduction of 14 new trains and also extension of 12 trains in Tamil Nadu and Kerala for the year 2020-2021.
In an official press release, from V Lakshminarayanasamy, President of ICCIC has informed that "We would like to mention that our Chamber has been representing to the Ministry of Railways continuously for running of the below-mentioned trains for the Industrial City of Coimbatore. Especially the Coimbatore-Bengaluru overnight express which has been a long pending request of the people of this city."
"With a huge influx of weekend travellers from Bengaluru, the Coimbatore-Bengaluru overnight express will be useful for many people hailing from Coimbatore, especially those working in IT industry in Bengaluru", the release noted.
ICCIC has also pointed that the Tirunelveli-Coimbatore passenger train would be very beneficial for the traders to improve their business activities between these two Districts.
While, ICCIC has welcomed the proposals of Southern Railways, they have expressed concern that no mention of renovation of Coimbatore railway junction, extension of platforms at Peelamedu, Irugur, and Somanur junctions have been informed by the railways.
New Trains to be introduced:
- Tirunelveli-Coimbatore daily express
- Coimbatore -Rameswaram overnight express
- Coimbatore-Bengaluru overnight express
- Kochuveli-Coimbatore Antyodaya weekly express
- Extension of Rameswaram-Madurai passenger train upto Coimbatore.
- Tirunelveli -Coimbatore daily express
