Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Court on Thursday has granted two-day police custody to investigate the Bharat Sena functionary for his involvement in vandalising Periyar statue at Sundarapuram, recently.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Court on Thursday has granted two-day police custody to investigate the Bharat Sena functionary for his involvement in vandalising Periyar statue at Sundarapuram, recently.
On July 17, the Periyar statue at Sundarapuram was vandalised with saffron paint and the police were on the lookout for the miscreants who were involved in the act.
Following which, a Bharat Sena functionary, Arun Krishnan of Anna Nagar area here surrendered at the Podanur Police station. After preliminary investigations, he was booked fot rioting, inciting hostility and disturbing public peace, and later remanded under judicial custody.
The Kuniyamuthur police had meanwhile sought permission from the Court to take Arun Krishnan under police custody for further investigation.
The plea came for hearing at District Judicial Criminal Court No:3, today.During which Justice Tamiliniyan (in-charge) granted two-day permission to the police to take Arun Krishnan under custody for investigation.
