The Nilgiris: Sim's park in Coonoor is now being prepared for the second season and the planting of one lakh 75 thousand flowering plants has commenced.
Deputy Director of Horticulture Department inaugurated the planting of flower saplings of 75 varieties that have been sourced locally and grown from the seeds of the plants that were used in the previous season. The various varieties include petunia, andrinim, balsam, begonia, dianthus, pancy, salvia, alyssum, zinnia, marigold, French and single and double layered Dahlia, Lakshmi Bala, Sachin, Indra and others.
Speaking about this Horticulture Department officials said, "All these plants will begin flowering in the last week of September. It is expected that COVID-19 situation will improve and the second season will witness the arrival of tourists."
