He said Coimbatore district has been witnessing a series of tense incidents over the past few days, which have been causing great damage to daily life in the district. He urged the police to control such incidents through concrete measures. They also called upon democratic movements and social organizations to raise their voices against such incidents.

Thanthai Periyar's idol was desecrated in Coimbatore, Sundarapuram a few days ago in which case Arun Krishnan was arrested. Similarly, Gajendran has been arrested for setting fire to three temples in key areas of Coimbatore. These incidents have created a tense situation in Coimbatore.

The police have prosecuted the two persons who damaged the temples as mentally deranged individuals that are not affiliated to any political organization or social organization. He said the information provided by the police is not credible. He therefore demanded that the State Government should conduct a high level enquiry into these incidents and clarify the true situation to the people.
