'97% of cases in Tirupur are from people of other states and districts' - District Collector K. Vijayakarthikeyan

Tirupur saw a steep rise in the number of COVID-19 cases over the past few days. Speaking about this the District Collector noted that most of the cases that have been reported in the district are those of people who arrived from other states or districts.

Tirupur: Tirupur saw a steep rise in the number of COVID-19 cases over the past few days. Speaking about this the District Collector noted that most of the cases that have been reported in the district are those of people who arrived from other states or districts.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Tirupur has increased to 541. Hence, a medical camp to identify people with fever was conductedat the Kumar Nagar area by the District Health Department. The District Collector K. Vijayakarthikeyan inspected the camp and spoke to the press.

He said, "97% of the COVID-19 cases in the district have been spread by the people who arrived from other states and districts. All of them are now being monitored and are under treatment. Medical camps are being held at various places throughout the Corporation to identify people with fever who are then put through testing. Arrangements have been made to secure the results of the tests within 24 hours. Similarly, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, E-passes are being provided only to those who have essential/ emergency reasons to enter into Tirupur."
