Coimbatore: Man who tried to sexually assault a tribal woman near Coimbatore has been arrested and remanded by the police under section including Prevention of Sexual Abuse and SC, ST Violence Act. The accused also stabbed a plantation owner who confronted him about this.

Ramasamy (37) cultivates onions by leasing a garden near Narasipuram, Coimbatore. Allegedly, Ramasamy went to the nearby hill village of Pattiyarpathy and tried to sexually assault a married woman about 24 years of age, who was sleeping at her house. Following this, the woman screamed and persons nearby beat Ramasamy, warned him and shooed him away.
Under the circumstances, the victim's husband informed Karthikeyan, the owner of the estate where he was working, about what happened.
It is said that Karthikeyan got angry, confronted Ramasamy and questioned him. Following this, Ramasamy stabbed Karthikeyan and fled. Upon learning this, the Alandurai police booked two separate cases against Ramasamy under sections including the Prevention of Sexual Assault and SC, ST Violence Act for attempting to molest a tribal girl.
