Coimbatore: A man was arrested in Annur near Coimbatore for allegedly posting on his Facebook page objectionable content pertaining to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kandha Shasti Kavasam - a Tamil hymn on Lord Muruga.
It is to be noted that members of pro-Hindu outfits and Periyarists have been clashing on social media spaces over the past few days. Under the circumstances, Shanmuganathan, a youngster from Annur near Coimbatore was alleged to have posted on his Facebook page objectionable content pertaining to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kandha Shasthi Kavasam - a Tamil hymn on Lord Muruga.
The post evoked sharp reaction from various Hindu organisations.The matter was reported to Annur Police, following which cases under the IPC Sections 153(a), 295(a) and 505(2) were booked against Shanmuganathan.
Following this, members of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam lodged a complaint at the same station against a person called Nandha who keeps posting objectionable content on his Facebook page about Periyar and demanded action against him.
TPDK cadres warned that if police do not initiate action against Nandha, they would conduct protests on a large scale.
