With increased electricity tariff in TN hurting the public who are already suffering from the negative impacts of COVID-19, DMK chief M.K. Stalin called for protests to be held condemning the hike.
In accordance with this, former Central Minister and High Level Strategic Planning Commission member M. Kannappan raised slogans against the price hike in front of his house in Mahalingapuram.
The Coimbatore Suburban South District In-charge Thendral Selvaraj raised slogans in front of his house at Kumaran Nagar, condemning the electricity price hike. The public also protested the price hike by hanging black flags in front of their houses.
The State Farmers Wing Assistant Secretary Tamilmani protested in front of his house at Mahalingapuram in Pollachi. The State Weavers Wing Secretary K.M. Nagarajan protested in front of his house at Kullakkapalayam.
They staged protests against the TN Government for levying increased electricity consumption charges which has affected the people and the farmers in and around Pollachi who have lost their livelihood.
