Speaking to the press after the event she said, "The spread of COVID-19 in the Nilgiris has occurred due to the disregard for the district administration's rules. Cases have been filed against those who conducted public events at Mulligoor, Thangadu, Orainalli, Ottupattarai and Vannarapettai without adequate precaution."
She also said, "Marriages that have been planned previouslycan take place with 50 guests, after obtaining permission from the District Administration. They must provide certificates that state that the guests are free of COVID-19 and the list must be provided to the District Administration. Those who conduct functions without following guidelines and with people more than the permitted number be slapped with fines. They could be even imprisoned under the Disaster Management Act."
She informed, "While 340 people are being treated for COVID-19 in the district, 54 people have recovered today. The spread of COVID-19 in the district in 1.9%. More fever testing camps are being conducted actively at all the villages."
"The people must follow all the disease prevention guidelines issued by the government. There is no community spread of COVID-19 in the district and the district administration is undertaking a lot of precautionary measures to control this", she said.
