Coimbatore: Valparai DMK staged protests against hike in electricity tariff.

The protests were led by the DMK City Secretary Palpaandi. The protestors demanded the revoke of the electricity price hike. They agitated against the government for being inconsiderate towards the hardships that people experience during the pandemic.



More than 30 members of the DMK took part in the protest. They demanded that concessions must be provided on the electricity charges, just as it is being done in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala. They further insisted on an extension of deadline for the payment of EB bills.

The protests were held in front of the LPF Trade Union office at Valparai. City Secretary Palpaandi, LPF Trade Union President Soundarapandi, administrators Ambikai Subbiah, E.K. Ponnusamy, District Farmers Wing J. Bhaskar and many other party cadres took part in the protest.
