Coimbatore: Alarming spread of COVID-19 infections has caused streets 4 through 10 at Gandhipuram to be closed down for vehicular traffic.

Gandhipuram is a very vibrant place with lots of shops including mobile phone shops, textile showrooms, jewelleries, printing shops and photo studios. However, due to a couple of cases of infection that were reported in the area, the 2nd and 3rd streets were closed down a few weeks ago.

Now streets 4 to the 10 street have been closed down for vehicular traffic. Barricades have been placed.

Following this, associations of shops selling cell phones and their spare parts in the area have announced that they will remain closed until Saturday. People visiting the streets park their vehicles either on the Cross-Cut road or 100 feet road. The usually busy Cross-Cut Road appears deserted due to this.
