Minister SP asks Stalin to treat himself for his phobia on Corona; alleges of spreading panic

Coimbatore: The heated statements between Minister SP Velumani and DMK President MK Stalin is become a common phenomenon post COVID days, as the latter alleges the former, who is the Municipal Minister in failing to control COVID in Tamil Nadu, and the former lauds that the State is setting examples in terms of containing the disease.

In one of his statement issued on July 20, Minister SP Velumani has criticised Stalin by asking him to take medication for his mental well-being, as he constantly engages in inciting baseless fear and negativity amid the people during such a pandemic time, the Minister accused.

Citing that COVID cases in Chennai had decreased by four-hold within a short span of time, the nation is lauding the efforts of the CM, State Health and Corporation who are working in unison to combat the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

The Minister recalled that across all eight zones in Chennai Corporation, special fever camps were held to ascertain the health of the people and check if they were exposed to the virus. All suspected cases through screening camps were sent to PCR testing, he added.

"Moreover, door-to-door campaigns were held at all COVID hotspots in Chennai to check for clusters. While such unrelenting efforts are underway, Stalin has nothing to do but accuse the AIADMK government of failing to combat COVID", the Minister alleged.

He further mocked that Stalin's comparison of Chennai with China is completely delusional and misleading. People are stuck in panic by his statements which never highlights the positives of our state including testing, recoveries and low mortality.

"He should treat himself for his phobia of COVID and mental well-being", the Minister told.
