Coimbatore:Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman said, new districts in Tamil Nadu could not be created due to lack of funds during the COVID-19 crisis.
Construction of 512 flats on 4 acres at a cost of Rs. 35 crores is underway in Kittasurampalayam in Pollachi. Pollachi Jayaraman who inspected the project today spoke to the reporters later.
He said DMK leader MK Stalin is trying to use the electricity tariff issue to further burden the Tamil Nadu government which is handling the critical economical situation in a calm and efficient manner.
He said Coronavirus is under control in Tamil Nadu and there is no community spread. He added that despite the density of population in Tamil Nadu, the Health Department, under the guidance of the Chief Minister, is working effectively to protect the people.
He informed that formation of new districts has come to a standstill due to revenue loss during the COVID-19 criis. He added that steps will be taken to make Pollachi a district and discussion to that effect will be held with the Chief Minister.
