Coimbatore: The Coimbatore couple of Karthik and Suganya were flummoxed when they found a lizard in a packet of Complan. The popular health drink is trusted by hundreds of thousands of mums across the county.
The couple live at the Telungupalayam Textool area in Coimbatore and have a boy, Hrithik Vijay (7), and a girl, Samantha Sri (2). Karthik works as a security guard at a private company nearby. Last month, he purchased a packet of Complan from the Apollo Pharmacy in Selvapuram.
Meanwhile, as the old stock got over, they opened the new packet yesterday and used a little to mix a drink for Hrithik Vijay. The boy seemed unusually tired after having the drink.
Under the circumstances, when they opened the Complan packet again today, to their utmost shock and dismay, they found a lizard in it. As a precautionary measure, the boy has been admitted at the government hospital for treatment.
Sukanya, the boy's mother, said she would be lodging a complaint with food safety officials so that other children could be prevented from harm.
