Heavy rains flood the river streams in Valparai
Coimbatore: Although there was irregular rainfall in Valparai at the onset of the Southwest Monsoon, rainfall has gained intensity over the last week or so.
Heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning have been lashing Valparai and surroundings since this afternoon.
As a result of this, the Koolangal Aaru, Nadumalaiyaaru, and Puduthottam Aaru around Valparai have started flooding.

Revenue Department officials have requested those who live close to the rivers to stay safe.
Public Works and Revenue Departments are also closely monitoring the increasing water level at Sholayar Dam.

It is noteworthy that Valparai received 70 mm of rainfall in a single day.
