COVID-19: New facility at Palladam to treat asymptomatic patients

New facility at Palladam to treat asymptomatic patients

Tirupur: Improvising the approach to treating COVID-19 patients, districts are now ramping up to set up COVID Care Centres to treat asymptomatic patients.

In a bid to reduce overcrowding of asymptomatic COVID positive patients at private and government hospitals, several small and large spaces including wedding halls, convention halls are being converted to care centres to treat asymptomatic patients who do not require much medical attention or respiratory support.

In one such initiative, Tirupur district is all set to open a 25-bedded facility at Palladam to treat asymptomatic COVID positive patients.

The move comes in the wake of the spike in number of COVID-19 positive patients to 433. The district has a total of 2185 beds -- 868 beds at government hospitals including COVID Health centres and care centres and 1317 beds at private hospitals approved by the government.

Till Saturday, a total of 217 patients are being treated at the above mentioned centres and the district administration is planning to ramp up more COVID Care Centres in multiple places in the district to treat asymptomatic patients.
