Coimbatore: The coronavirus pandemic has been on the rise in Coimbatore with over 100 cases being reported for the last few days. The government has made many make shift arrangements for combating the spread and treatment of those affected. Last week saw the District Collector of Coimbatore contracting COVID-19.
Individuals and businesses have been making many efforts to combat this and this has been a constant struggle between lives and livelihood. Many have the thrown the safety norms to the wind as they chose livelihoods. Some industries like gold manufacturing have been completely affected due to the cluster cases of Selvapuram, Chetti Veethi and surrounding areas where most of the gold workshops are operating from. Many shops in Townhall, Raja Street area have been affected too as many cases have popped up from there.
In this volatile scenario, the Gold Bullion Association has announced that they have to ensure safety of their businesses working, staffs and family on priority.
The Gold Bullion Association has discussed on this issue and decided to close down all activity for a week from 21st July, 2020 to 28th July,2020.
Senthil Srinivasan and Karthik K, the Treasurer and Secretary of the Gold Bullion Association, in a release said that “this is a move to break the chain and give the necessary break for the staffs, owners and their families the necessary time to restrict movement and boost immunity during this time. We request each and every member to act and contribute responsibly to this situation by co-operating towards the close down of business for the above said period.”
