COVID-19: Highest ever single-day surge and fatalities of 4,807 and 88

With 4,807 positives reported today, the number of COVID cases in TN has alarmingly crossed the 4,500 mark for the third consecutive day and as many as 1,219 patients belong to Chennai, according to the data provided by the State Health Department.

The total of COVID-19 positives in the state stands at a whopping 1,65,714. With 88 fatalities over the last 24 hours, the overall toll has soared to 2,403, on Saturday.

Meanwhile, with 118 new cases in Coimbatore, the case tally surged to 1,905.

The districts of The Nilgiris and Tirupur registered 40 and 23 cases, respectively.

In some positive news, the state managed to post 3,049 recoveries today taking the tally of discharges to 1,13,856 and the number of active cases to 49,452.
