Coimbatore: Kumar (48, name changed) is a milk vendor and hails from Coimbatore's Arumugagoundanur area. His daughter Kavitha (18, name changed) was a second year B.Com student at a private college here. Rithish, who lives near his house, does motor winding work. It is said that Kavitha and Rithish had been in love with each other.
Allegedly, their parents were against the affair and kept warning them following which Kavitha started avoiding Rithish.
Under the circumstances, Rithish visited Kavitha's home around 8.30 last night and confronted her. When ignored, Riteish stabbed Kavitha her repeatedly with aknife he had hidden in his body and the injured Kavitha screamed in pain.
Rithish also stabbed Kumar who rushed out on hearing his daughter's screams. Neighbours rushed the injured to Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment.
While Kumar's condition is stable, Kavitha succumbed to her injuries today. Perur police have registered a case and are on the lookout for Rithish. The incident has caused a stir in the area.
