Tirupur: Minister Udumalai Radhakrishnan said that strict restrictions will be followed in granting E-passes henceforth as the COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Tirupur.

A review meeting on coronavirus prevention and ongoing development work in Tirupur district was held at the Tirupur District Collectorate today. Udumalai Radhakrishnan, TN Minister for Animal Husbandry, chaired the meeting

Following this, Minister Radhakrishnan told reporters in a first in Tamil Nadu, 42 check posts have been set up in Tirupur and all those coming from other districts and states are being monitored regularly. He also said officials are constantly monitoring the areas within the corporation limits too.

He said that COVID infections in Tirupur are not indigenous and spread only from people from other districts and states and that 112 are receiving treatment at Tirupur Medical College Hospital.

He said, "Even though 385 people in our district are affected by coronavirus, there have been close to 200 recoveries. Those who undergo treatment are also in good health. As part of precautionary measures, 2,100 beds are on the ready."

The Minister added that strict restrictions will be followed in granting E-passes henceforth as the COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Tirupur.

He said, "Tirupur district has topped the Plus 2 examination for the first time in Tamil Nadu and as a Minister from this district,, I would like to thank all the teachers, students and parents who worked for this "

He informed that in the coming year, the Department of Animal Husbandry will provide four free goats each to 1.50 lakh women, cows to 12 thousand women and 25 chickens each to 1.50 lakh women each and provision of welfare assistance to 3,12,000 women is underway.
