Tirupur: Palladam MLA Karaipudur Natarajan flagged off battery vehicles for sanitary workers who collect garbage in the Palladam Union.
Around 1,08,000 people live in 11 village panchayats under the Palladam Union in Tirupur district. There are 148 sanitary workers employed in the area.
They visit the houses in the panchayats and collect biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste in separate bags. Plastic and ceramic waste is recycled and sent for laying roads. It was decided to provide 44 battery vehicles to the Palladam Union to alleviate the long delays and inconvenience the staff face due to the push carts they use.

Accordingly, the first phase of the distribution of 25 battery vehicles at an estimated cost of 62,33,000 was held at the office of the Palladam Panchayat Union.

MLA Karaipudur Natarajan, who was present at the event, flagged off the vehicles. Regional Development Officer Banupriya, District Councilor Thenmozhi, Co-operative Marketing Chairman Chithuraj, Palladam Panchayat leaders and AIADMK cadres were present.
