Under the circumstances, a young man who came there in a two-wheeler saw the old man sleeping soundly, entered the shop,, and stole Rs. 4000 from the cash counter.
The shop's proprietor Gopala Krishnan was shocked to see the cash missing the next morning. On checking the shop's CCTV footage, he found a young man wearing a helmet entering the premises and lifting the money. He thinks there was about Rs. 4,000 rupees in the box.
He then lodged a complaint at the Singanallur police station. Police are investigating the matter.
