The Nilgiris: Patients of Coonoor Government Hospital have been suffering as doctors sitting on the ground at the hospital premises in protest of the sudden transfer of doctors to Gudalur and Pandalur areas.
The Nilgiris: Patients of Coonoor Government Hospital have been suffering as doctors sitting on the ground at the hospital premises in protest of the sudden transfer of doctors to Gudalur and Pandalur areas.
There are 11 doctors on duty at the Coonoor Government Hospital in the Nilgiris District. One of them contracted COVID-19 and is being treated at the Coimbatore ESI Hospital. As two others were on leave, the Healthcaredepartment ordered the transfer of the remaining eight doctors to Gudalur and Pandalur government hospitals in the Nilgiris district last night.

Opposing this, doctors sat on the ground and protested at the Coonoor Government LawleyHospital in protest. Doctors said the protest would continue until the order was revoked.
As a result, more than 50 inpatients and other patients receiving treatment at the hospital have been affected.
