District Collector tests positive for COVID-19: All government employees to be tested

Coimbatore: As the District Collector tested positive for COVID-19, it has been decided to subject all government employees in the district to PCR tests. Meanwhile, all the employees working on the first floor of the Collectorate were instructed to leave for their homes today.

Coimbatore: As the District Collector tested positive for COVID-19, it has been decided to subject all government employees in the district to PCR tests. Meanwhile, all the employees working on the first floor of the Collectorate were instructed to leave for their homes today.

Coimbatore District Collector K. Rajamani had been visiting various COVID-intese areas in the districts and gearing up the preventive measures. This being the case, the Collector and his colleagues underwent COVID tests 2 days ago following which the Collector tested positive today. The collector also had flu-like symptoms. Following this, he has been admitted for treatment at KMCH Hospital on Avinashi Road.

Collector's room and camp office have been disinfected and sealed. His family members have been subjected to tests and quarantined. In addition, tests are on the cards for all the officials who had been in contact with the Collector.

Meanwhile, thermal scanning has been mandated for those who enter the Collectorate.

Corporation employees are meanwhile engaged in fumigating the entire premises.
