In two separate cases in Pollachi, two men imprisoned under POCSO
Coimbatore: In two separate cases that have shocked many, a youth who impregnated a 14-year girl and a man who sexually abused a girl who visited his home to play with his daughter were imprisoned under POCSO.
In Bodipalayam next to Pollachi, a young man named Babu enticed a 14-year-old on the pretext of love. He took her secretly to a temple in the locality and tied the knots and declared her to be his wife. Following this, he kept sexually abusing the girl when nobody was around.
The girl eventually became pregnant. Suspicious of the young girl's activities, her mother cornered her and managed to extract the details about her love affair with Babu, their secret marriage and the resultant pregnancy.
Acting upon a complaint lodged by the mother at the Pollachi Women's Police Station, the Babu was booked under POCSO and imprisoned later.
In another shocking incident, a 13-year-old girl from Chinnavathambacheri next to Pollachi who visited her friend next door to play with her was sexually harassed by her friend's father.
Raja, the man who committed this heinous crime, used a lone moment when the other children were using the restrooms.
Returning home, the minor girl relayed this to her mother who lodged a complaint at the Pollachi All Women's Police Station. Raja, was subsequently arrested and imprisoned under POCSO.
