With the COVID cases maintaining a steady upward curve all over the world, governments across the nations have been doing their best to keep the pandemic under the lid.
On those lines, state governments in India institute containment zones in order to control the spread of infection. The district of Coimbatore is no exception.
One can see a number of containment zones across the districts that have been cordoned off with tin sheets in order to restrict and monitor the people who reside within those areas. When employees from commercial establishments test positive for COVID, the businesses and its associates are closed down.
This being the case, four employees of Emerald Gold Industries, a renowned gold jewellery factory in Rakkipalayam in the suburbs of Coimbatore tested positive for COVID today after which fumigatory measures were undertaken and the factory has been made to down its shutters temporarily.
The Emerald Gold Industries group of companies have thousands of local and migrant workers in its employ. Most of them stay at the company-owned hostel.
Under the circumstances, a male employee developed flu-like symptoms a few days ago following which he was subjected to a PCR test and declared COVID positive three days back. He has been admitted at the Coimbatore ESI Hospital for treatment.
Following this, samples were obtained from 9 of his hostel mates, which led to the discovery that 3 of them have contracted the virus.
In view of this, Emerald Gold Industries factory at Rakkipalayam and one of its branches nearby have been closed temporarily.
Health officials have directed all the hostelers to quarantine themselves.
