Tirupur: In a press meet today, Tirupur collector K Vijayakarthikeyan asserted that COVID-19 spread is under control in Tirupur as preventive measures are undertaken in war footing.

It is to be noted that the overall tally of COVID positives has crossed 300 in Tirupur district while there are 118 active cases.



After inspecting commercial establishments and shops at the Usha Theatre Bus Stop area, the collector met with the press. He said that along with the travellers from other districts, states and countries, those who develop flu-like symptoms are as well subjected to PCR tests.

He added that when the administration receives tips about medical shops that sell large quantities of fever medication, fever detection camps are organised immediately in those areas.

He informed the press that government officials keep spreading COVID awareness amid the public unceasingly besides instituting various preventive measures.

He concluded asserting, "Because of such preventive measures that are undertaken in war footing in the district, COVID-19 spread is under control."
