Coimbatore: A 16-year-old girl from Podanur who was kidnapped by a 26-year-old man under the pretext of marriage was rescued safely today. The man was arrested under the POCSO act.

During investigation, it was revealed that the 16-year-old girl had been in love with Manikandan (26),a fabricator by profession, from Podanur Panchayat Office Street. It was also found that Manikandan used to frequent the ground near the girl's home and befriended her eventually. Later, Manikandan enticed the girl with the promise of marriage and kidnapped her.
Under the circumstances, East All-Women Police nabbed Manikandan and rescued the minor girl. After booking him under POCSO. The police presented Manikandan at the court and later imprisoned him.
