Coimbatore: Five persons from Pollachi and Valparai tested positive for COVID-19 today. Four of them have been admitted at the Coimbatore ESI while one is at the COVID treatment centre that is in place at the Pollachi Women's Higher Secondary School.

Four persons from Kovilpalayam, Topslip, Valparai and Pollachi have tested positive for COVID-19. Following this, the areas where they reside have been fumigated and isolated.
The Health department said, "A lorry driver from MGR Nagar, Pollachi who had been to Bengaluru has been infected. Similarly, a woman who travelled from Thonimudi, Valparai to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment for a monthly checkup tested positive. The wife of a man at the Koli Kamuthi Elephant rearing camp in Topslip who visited Anamalai to collect pension displayed symptoms of fever and tested positive at Topslip hospital.
Another case was that of a man from Kovilpalayam who visited his sister's house in Vadugapalayam. When he developed fever, he was tested and found positive for COVID-19."
The health officials informed that the Topslip area will be fumigated on behalf of the Anaimalai Town Panchayat. At a review meeting led by the Sub Collector at the Pollachi Municipality, it was insisted that pregnant women who visit private hospitals should be prioritised and sent back as quickly as possible.
Also a fireman from Pollachi fire station turned positive for the dreaded virus. Following this, the Health Department sealed the station after it was fumigated.
