Coimbatore: A painter who was working on a painting job at an apartment building was forced to paint an electric pole by the apartment managers following which he suffered an electric shock.
He is receiving treatment at a private hospital. Police have filed a case on the apartment managers.
Anthony Cruz (26), S/o Sankar of the Eshawaran Chettiar Layout of the Puliakulam area works as a painter. He was married a couple of months ago.
Anthony Cruz was working on a painting job at the Metro Park Apartment on the Sungam Bypass road. He started work as usual on Saturday when the apartment managers Vivek and Mohan compelled Anthony to climb an electric pole and paint it. Anthony, however, refused to climb the pole stating that it had live electricity wires.
The managers misled him saying that the electric line had been turned off and nothing untoward would happen. However, when Anthony climbed the pole he suffered an electric shock and was thrown off the pole. Following this, he was rushed to a private hospital for treatment.
A case has been filed against the apartment managers Vivek and Mohan by the Ramanathapuram Police Inspector Murugesan under the IPC Section 338. Investigations are on.
Anthony Cruz's family has requested for compensation and proper treatment and care for the injured.
