Coimbatore: Air Arabia has announced special flights to India. The flights will operate to Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Delhi, Kannur, Kochi, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mumbai and Trivandrum.

For the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic, Air Arabia will be accepting passengers on the return leg to the UAE from India. However, those wishing to board these flights must have the necessary ICA approvals from the UAE government.

Following an agreement reached between the civil aviation authorities of India and the UAE last week, the Indian government announced that UAE residents stranded in India would be able to return to the UAE on the Vande Bharat flights departing from Indian cities, provided that these residents secured the required approvals and that the UAE was their final destination.

Additionally, it confirmed that charter flights operated byUAE carriers bringing Indian citizens from the UAE to India will also be allowed to carry ICA-approved Indians on their return leg (India to UAE).

Readers may recall that the Royal Brunei Airlines and Oman's SalamAir operated special chartered aircrafts to Coimbatore and carried a few passengers back under the Vande Bharat Mission.

On those lines, Air Arabia will operate special flights between Coimbatore and Sharjah between July 14 and July 26. As per the official flight schedule list given by Air Arabia flights G9-413 and G9-414 will be used for the services. Flight number G9-413 will begin its journey from Sharjah around 6:30 PM and would reach Coimbatore International Airport at 11:55 PM and would be operated between July 14 and July 25 on the second and sixth days of the week.

The return flight G-9414 will commence its journey from Coimbatore at 12:35 AM and reach Sharjah at 2:55 AM and will be operated between July 15 and July 26 on the third and seventh days of the week.

Speaking to Simplicity, sources from the airport said, "It is true that Air Arabia has officially announced flight services in both the directions between Coimbatore and Sharjah. In order to avail the services, passengers should check with the airline authorities and ensure they are eligible to travel.

These flights also fall under the Vande Bharat repatriation flight services. While the usual Air India repatriation flights just bring the stranded passengers to India, Air Arabia will carry Indians back to the UAE. Recently Royal Brunei Airlines and SalamAir took back passengers to their countries, but the numbers were very less. This is due to the rules and regulations implemented by the foreign countries."Airport sources said.
