4,328 new cases, 66 fatalities, 3,035 discharges in Tamil Nadu; state tally 142,798

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu recorded 4,328 positive cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the state tally to 1,42,798.

Chennai reported 1,140 positive cases, pushing the Capital City’s total to 78,573.

The state recorded 66 COVID fatalties today (16 private, 50 govt), taking the state toll to 2,032.

Besides Chennai, 219 cases were reported in Chengalpattu, 352 in Kancheepuram, and 337 in Thiruvallur.

Ariylaur is the only district in the state to report no new cases. While Dindigul reported just one, Karur and Perambalur registered two apiece.

The Temple City of Madurai recorded a whopping 464 new cases.

Elsewhere in the state, so far as districts that keep churning high numbers go, Kanyakumari registered 185 new cases, Villupuram 143, Theni 134, Vellore 129, Ranipet 126, Thoothukudi, 122, Tirunelveil 118, and Salem 104.

The Nilgiris witnessed an alarming proliferation today with the hills district registering 40 cases today, pushing the overall tally to 222.

Tirupur recorded 12 new cases which took the overall cases past the 300 mark. The count there stands at 308 as of today.

The state discharged 3,035 patients following treatment today, taking the total number of recoveries to 92,567.
