Parents of a mentally challenged man petitioned Tirupur District Collector for the provision of a house
Tirupur: Parents of a mentally challenged man petitioned Tirupur District Collector for the provision of a house.
Chandrasekaran and Jothi from Tirupur have a mentally challenged son Ashok Babu (37). The parents along with their son came to the Tirupur District Collectorate and filed a petition with the District Collector.
Speaking about this, Jothi said, "Our son has been mentally challenged right from birth; however, we have been bringing him up with utmost care and affection. We have lived without the assistance of anyone. We are now more than 70 years old and our son is disabled and can't do anything on his own. No one is ready to rent us a house and we are unable to find work at this age."
She tearfully lamented, "We are scared about the future of our son. Hence, we request the District Collector to provide us with financial assistance to protect our son. Further, we have been requesting for nearly four years that the government should provide us with a house. However, there has been no action. Taking our plight into account, we request the District Collector to initiate action immediately."
