Coimbatore: An egg trader from the Annapoorni Kalyana Mandapam area in Pollachi had fever for the past few days following which he underwent COVID testing and tested positive.

He was subsequently admitted at Coimbatore ESI Hospital for treatment. The Annapoorni Kalyana Mandapam area has been disinfected and isolated. Officials have been raising COVID awareness amid the public.

The Chatram Road where the egg trader's shop is was inspected suddenly by Sub-Collector Vaithiyanathan who appealed to the traders there to reduce their business hours.
He held consultation with Municipal Commissioner Gandhirajan, Tahsildar Thanigaivel and Inspector Mahendran after which the Sub-Collector Vaithiyanathan said persons who tested positive at Kumaran Nagar, Bazaar street and Kalaivanar street areas are under treatment. He also informed that a trader who runs an egg shop on Chatram Road has been admitted at Coimbatore ESI. All the areas have been disinfected and isolated.
He also informed that need be, traders from the area would be subjected to testing.
