10 congress party members led by president of Coimbatore Congress Committee and working president of Tamilnadu Congress Committee, Mayura Jayakumar, protested at Townhall.
They raised slogans against the magazine that published the cartoon in question and the artist who drew it. They tore and burnt copies of the magazine in protest. Police in the area tried to stop them as the protest was not a permitted one. When the protestors did not pay heed to the police, they were arrested and later released in the evening.
