The 58-year-old woman underwent a heart surgery a few months ago. This being the case, she was admitted at the Coimbatore GH a few days ago due to illness, but failed to respond to treatment and passed away the night before the last.
She was declared COVID positive post her death based on the results of a PCR test that was done when she was alive.

On the reception of the information of her COVID positivity, her relatives contacted the district executives of Popular Front of India and sought assistance with her burial.
Following this, volunteers from Popular Front of India received the woman's body from the hospital and accorded her an Islamic burial in the presence of her relatives. Government-issued COVID guidelines and restrictions were followed during the burial.
