The Nilgiris: With one more case reported today, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Nilgiris is now 179. One of the patients succumbed to the dreaded virus today.
While the tally on July 10 was 181, three of the reported cases were cross-notified to Tirupur because of which it was corrected to 178. With the addition of the one new case, the tally rose 179.
While the active cases amount to 109, the district has had 69 recoveries, so far.
The district witnessed the fatality of a COVID patient from Gudalur.
The sole positive today is Patient no.179, Age 73, Male, Jain Bazaar, Ooty Municipality- The patient was tested for COVID-19 when he went to a local hospital due to illness. However, he tested negative. Following this, he was sent to aCoimbatore hospital for advanced treatment where he tested positive.
Most of the cases have travel history and history of attending functions. Hence the public have been requested to travel only for essential medical reasons and avoid functions.
