Coimbatore: The public in Coimbatore have requested the District Administration to initiate action against ATMs that use AC's.
Among the many guidelines issued by the government to control the spread of COVID-19, non-use of air conditioners is an important one as it is widely deemed that the use of AC could cause coronavirus to spread. Air conditioners have been banned at all the commercial establishments.
However, throwing caution to the winds, many ATM centers in Coimbatore have been using AC's. Even though there is widespread awareness among the people about this, the need to retrieve money from the ATM takes precedence, making them use the ATMs in spite of the fear of infection.
One of the members of the public who drives a call taxi said, "Ever since we heard that AC's could proliferate COVID, we have been treading with caution. I always keep the AC in the car switched off. However, when I visit ATM centers, I have seen many operating AC's. Considering the welfare of the people, the Health Department should strictly enforce the no-AC restriction at ATMs and initiate action against violators."
