The prime residential areas of Saibaba Colony and KK Pudur have 100 plus brand and departmental stores.
Today, the corporation officials inspected various shops like Reliance Fresh to check whether they comply with the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the government.
A team led by Sathya, Assistant Executive Engineer Coimbatore Corporation, inspected and advised the shopkeepers to follow the guidelines. Shops have been asked to permit only five customers at a time, insist customers to use face masks, conduct thermal scanning and provide hand sanitizers for the use of customers. The team observed the guidelines being followed at the Reliance Fresh store.
"Most of the shops follow the guidelines. Those who don't follow will be warned and penalized. Violations such as crowding, using AC's etc., will lead to the shops being sealed. Customers are advised to be careful while shopping and avoid shopping during peak hours. Crowded shoppingwill lead to proliferation of the virus" said AEE Sathya.
