Coimbatore: Employees of Everest Industries petitioned the District Collector against the company for forcing them to work during the complete lockdown on Sunday. They lament that it is very difficult for them to work on Sundays with lack of facilities such as transport.
Coimbatore: Employees of Everest Industries today petitioned the District Collector against the company for forcing them to work during the complete lockdown on Sunday. They alleged that it is very difficult for them to work on Sundays with lack of facilities such as transport.
The Everest Industries at ThirumalayamPalayam, Madukkarai manufactures asbestos sheets and has more than 300 people in its factory. The workers allege that the management has been forcing them to come to work even on complete lockdown days such as Sundays.
On July 5, when the first complete lockdown happened more than 50 employees were allegedly forced to work at the factory for the whole day, without paying heed to the orders of the government.
Now the employees are being allegedly being compelled to work tomorrow, July 12, the second full lockdown for the month. The workers expressed their concern and worry about the threatening behaviour of the management.
They petitioned the District Collector to initiate action against the company.
