As per the State bulletin issued by the Tamil Nadu Health Department, 43 cases have been reported in Coimbatore, and the total cases is 1071. And, three deaths have been accounted for today.
Hopefully, the district administration and the health department reverse their decision of not providing the detailed daily report which throws light on the age, area, travel history of the infected people.
Furthermore, the detailed report in many ways has helped to annihilate baseless reports being circulated, amid people. It also cautioned people of cluster areas to be extra vigilant or present themselves for testing, if they would have recently visited a cluster zone, unknowingly.
In the absence of an elaborate report of this sort, a siren of an ambulance carrying a trauma patient might perturb the onlookers who would falsely take it as a COVID patient being shifted to a hospital. If so, rumours triggered by people will turn detrimental to the district administration who are already striving round-the-clock and rendering yeomen service during this pandemic situation.
Let's hope the health officials continue with the usual way of detailed reporting and facilitate the media to keep the citizens informed with actual data.
