Coimbatore: A special COVID-19 medical camp is being held at the Peelamedu liquor godown for lorry drivers who ferry liquor loads from Chennai.
Special medical camps in all the 100 wards of the Coimbatore Corporation began today. As part of this, a special COVID-19 medical camp is being conducted for lorry drivers who ferry liquor from Chennai to the liquor godown at Peelamedu, Coimbatore.
Around 150 lorry drivers from Chennai and other areaswere tested for fever, cold and BP. Following this. They were presented with a kit consistingof immune boosters such ng kabasura kudineer, Arsenic Album 30, Zinc tablets, gloves and face masks.
The lorries were also disinfected.
The Corporation Commissioner J. Shravan Kumar who visited the camp for inspection said, "Special COVID-19 medical camps are being conducted in Coimbatore", and added, "There are 800 employees at the 158 liquor shops in the Corporation area. Hence social distancing at the shops is being enforced and the use of face masks and gloves is also being insisted."
"Workers who have cold and fever are made to undergo COVID-19 testing and those who are found positive are admitted treatment and even those who are not positive are advised to isolate themselves for 14 days. Lorry drivers bringing liquor loads to Coimbatore are being tested for cold and fever symptoms following which they are tested for COVID-19", he informed.
