Coimbatore: L&T dedicated various infrastructure facilities to the Government Hospital at Madukkarai for the benefit of the patients from this region who visit the hospital today. The total cost of the facilities dedicated today was worth ₹50 lakhs.

L&T Valves, a wholly owned subsidiary of Engineering and Construction major Larsen & Toubro, has dedicated infrastructure facilities created by the company to Government Hospital, Madukkarai, Coimbatore for the beneficiaries from the region.

The facilities were today formally handed over by A. Shanmugam, MLA , Kinathukadavu in the presence of. K. Rajamani, IAS., District Collector. Others present at the function included, Dr.P.Krishna, Joint Director of Medical Services, Paul Varghese, Head-Coimbatore Central Management and D. Basavarajappa, Head-Operations, L&T Valves as well as other local District and Health Department officials and officials of L&T.

Casualty room, clinical laboratory, compound wall, washroom and drinking water storage facility, created under CSR support of L&T Valves, will be beneficial to around 500 patients visiting daily for OPD care as well as inpatients of the 60-bed Government Hospital at Madukkarai. The dedicated casualty and laboratory will be useful for the hospital's medical team to provide quality healthcare delivery to vast sections of the neighbourhood community mainly falling under lower income strata.
Speaking on the occasion, A. Shanmugam, MLA, Kinathukadavu said, “The infrastructure facilities created with CSR support from L&T Valves will be immensely beneficial to people in the region to receive improved healthcare services. These facilities will go a long way in contributing to further improve the quality of healthcare delivery by the Health Department.”
L&T Valves has been participating in the local District Administration’s healthcare improvement endeavours, to lend a fillip to the public health programmes supported by both State and Central Governments. The Government Hospital at Madukkarai was selected for support by L&T Valves in the year 2019-20 as part of its flagship 'Rural Health Development Project’, launched in 2016. Prior to this, L&T Valves had extended CSR support to improve infrastructure and medical facilities of three Primary Health Centres at Arisipalayam, Vellalore and Thirumalayampalayam.
On the occasion, it was also declared that L&T Valves would continue to extend similar CSR support to improve infrastructure and medical facilities at the Primary Health Centre at Anaikatti and District Early Intervention Centre at Govt. Medical College Hospital, Coimbatore, during the current financial year.
The District Collector and officials appreciated the social development interventions of L&T in the areas of education, health, vocational skill building and watershed, and assured full support for successful implementation of such programmes in the future.
