Coimbatore: In a consultative meeting headed by Sub Collector Viadyanathan, it was decided that all shops in Pollachi will operate only from 6 am to 5 pm as the numbers of infections keep rising in the region.

Coronavirus is rapidly spreading in Pollachi and its surroundings. The entire Bazaar Street was sealed last week after a medical shop owner there tested positive. The manager of a clothing store operating in the same area also turned positive. Therefore, clothing stores and jewelleries were ordered to down their shutters for 15 days.
Subsequently, an emergency consultative meeting was held at the Pollachi Municipal Office headed by the Sub Collector. The meeting was attended by municipal officials, executives from various trader associations, doctors and restaurant owners.
It was decided in the meeting to raise awareness on wearing face masks and disinfecting all the areas. It was also decided that all shops in and around Pollachi should be kept open only from 6 am to 5 pm, but restaurants can operate until 8 pm and should provide only parcels.
The Sub-collector warned that if shops are kept open after 5 pm, they will be fined and sealed. He requested the public to provide full support.
