Even with the spread of COVID-19 on the rise in TN, many public places in Tirupur have been spotted with people not wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing. The public and social activists of Tirupur have been sharing their opinion and concerns regarding this on social media.
To address these concerns, the Tirupur Corporation officials, Revenue department officials and the Police department conducted surprise inspections at Kadharpettai, Kumaran Street and other places, mainly garment godowns and shops.
The inspection revealed that most of the shop owners and the employees did not wear face masks and maintain social distancing. Following this, more than 50 shops were fined Rs.500 each.
Similarly, individuals without face masks and two-wheeler riders without face masks were also levied a fine of Rs.100. More than 100 violators were penalized.
