Coimbatore: A silversmith from Coimbatore has crafted a COVID-19 awareness message on a gram of silver.
The silversmith U.M.T. Raja works at a gold jewellery workshop in Kuniyamuthur. He is known to create statues in a bid to create awareness regarding various issues. He has earlier crafted statues with one gram of gold.
He has now crafted one gram of silver into a COVID-19 awareness message. The craft depicts Atlas carrying the earth, while standing on a face mask. He began crafting this at 10 AM and completed it at 5 PM. The message that Raja conveys stands out saying carrying COVID-19 or destroying it lies in our hands.
Speaking about this Raja said, "While people have been dying all over the world due to COVID-19 it is in our hands to safeguard ourselves from the disease. I crafted the message made to insist upon this. Whatever measures the government takes, it is finally the self discipline that a man has that can protect him from the disease. Washing hands frequently, wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing can only protect us from the disease", he informed.
